Member Prices FAQs

Member Prices FAQs

What are Member Prices and how do they work?

Member Prices are an exclusive benefit for Channel Islands Coop members, allowing you to receive special discounts on selected products. To access these savings, members simply quote their share number at checkout. This initiative is part of our commitment to delivering more value to those who support us.

How can I get Member Prices?

If you are already a member, then quote your membership number (also known as share number) at the till and start saving straight away. If you aren’t a member then sign up to be a member at www.channelislands.coop/join

Do Member Prices replace the Dividend?

No. Member Prices is an initiative to give members even more benefits from shopping with the Channel Islands Coop. It is our intention to continue to pay members a profit share bonus, calculated on what we can afford to pay after all costs have been taken into consideration, at the end of the financial year. As always, the amount of the profit share will be proposed by the Board at the Annual Members Meeting and agreed by Members.

Can I sign up to be a member in-store?

Yes, you can sign at a member counter in-store. Or you can sign up online by scanning the QR code in-store or visit www.channelislands.coop/join. You will need a form of ID to sign up which can be an in-date driving license or passport.

Are Member Prices available in all Coop stores?

Yes, Member Prices are available in all our grocery stores across Jersey and Guernsey on a selection of products. The only exception is St Mary En Route, where Member Prices are not displayed on the shelves because the store is still using ESEL 1. However, members will still receive the discounted price at checkout when they enter their membership number.

Why does membership cost £1?

The £1 you put in pays for your share in the Coop, making you an owner. It gives you a lot more than just deals. You have a say in how we are run, and which causes we put our profits in. And you enjoy Member Prices, discounts across Coop and many more benefits.

If I am a UK Coop member, can I use this in Jersey and Guernsey?

No. You will need to be a member of the Channel Islands Coop to get member prices in Jersey and Guernsey.

I am not a member; can I still get offers in-store?

Non-members are still welcome to shop with us, but they won’t be able to take advantage of the exclusive Member Prices. However, islanders can easily become a member by joining in-store or online to enjoy these benefits. We encourage islanders to consider becoming a member, not just for the discounts, but also to support local community projects and sustainability efforts.

What products will be included in Member Prices?

Member Prices will apply to a wide range of products, from everyday essentials like groceries to special seasonal items. You’ll be able to spot the deals easily in-store with clear labels on Member Price items. Specific examples will vary over time, as we aim to tailor the offerings to what our members want and need most.

What other benefits do members receive beyond Member Prices?

In addition to Member Prices, Coop members are part of a community-focused retailer that reinvests profits into local projects and supports ethical supply chains. Members also have a say in how the Coop is run through voting and governance opportunities. Being a member is about more than just discounts; it’s about contributing to a positive local impact. When you become a member of the Coop you become a shareholder, this means you are entitled to dividend which is agreed at the annual AMM each year.

Will I be entitled to Dividend if I am a member?

Yes. You will also receive dividend if it is approved at our Annual Members Meeting. You can see your estimated dividend in your member portal which is currently accruing at 2%. You can find out more about member dividend here: Member dividend FAQs | Channel Islands Coop
